I Love You This Much.

After giving you your bath (where, by the way, we did flashcards, and you knew nearly ALL of your letters. --which AMAZES me.) -- we then settled into your room.

 Daddy. Mumma, and Sophie!

You carefully carried your step stool to the shelf were your tea set was, brought that down, and made tea for all of us!

We talked about our day, while you scooped the sugar (12 scoops) into our cups and stirred them with such love and concentration. Daddy asked for milk, to which you told him, "No milk, Daddy. That's for coffee. This is tea."

You're so funny! And smart. More than that though, you know what you want. You have a very strong spirit, and do we ever get a kick out of it!

After our 'tea party', Daddy said goodnight, leaving me to put you to bed (he always says I'm a miracle worker at getting you down).

At first, you put up a fight, trying every trick in the book.

Story.
Song.
Drink.
Dress up cloths.

That's when I said 'no'.

And you literally went to bed kicking and screaming. It was exhausting to see your eyes filled with tears and to hear your sweet, little voice say, "Be nice to me, Mumma."

"Sophie, I am nice to you. It's time for bed. The moon is out, and we need to go to sleep to start our day tomorrow." I said, while you studied me with focus. I continued, "Did you have a good day today?"

"Yeah." You whispered.

"Do you know how much I love you?" You waited for my answer, "I love you this much!" I said stretching my arms as far as they could stretch, wide open.

And that's when you threw your arms around me, hugging me tightly.

"Sophie yuv you too, Mumma."

Yes, it was a good day.

Hot Tea, Hot Polish

Sophie.

While getting my nails ready for a Tiger's game tonight, you sweetly told me that your purple polish was coming off (it wasn't) and that you want nails like Momma. So, that's what we did.

Momma.

Shoesday Afternoon

After getting you dressed today, I went to go get your shoes and socks. Coming back, I was greeted with a proud little you, sitting on your bed swinging your feet. You had already put some shoes on.

They were backwards.
And you had no socks.

At first I attempted to remove one, and you cried out, "No Mama!" -- And I knew. I couldn't break your heart. You worked so hard to get those shoes not only on but also buckled. I've seen you attempt to put them on before; never taking help from Daddy or myself. Always frustrated along the way, but like your sweet determined self, you never give up on them.

So, off we went: I, with my ballerina flats, and you, with your backwards Mary Janes (no socks), both happy as could be.

No More 'Toe'

April 10-

Today, you stopped calling Tito, 'Toe'. He is now officially 'Tito' because you can say his name.

What I know...

        I looked into your eyes,
           and I knew you.

It has only been two years so far, and this I know...

You are an old soul...

You didn't much care for being a baby.

As an infant, you would stare into my eyes,
                       and I knew.

I knew you had an independent spirit, lawning to be mobile,
lawning to be able to explore this glorious world of ours.

Through your second year of life, you could move.
You could walk, climb, clap, and even draw.

But you were still not satisfied.  :)

You needed to speak.

You couldn't say much during year number two.
You would observe, and then, look to me.

And I knew.

A glance at the park, then back up to me,
your beautiful blue eyes filled with curiousity,

"That is the park. It's a place were family and friends go to play in the sunshine!" I would say...and I would pray you knew what I was saying. I looked back down to you, to see you smiling at me.

And I knew...

I know you've been waiting to bask in the sunshine on your own, Sophia, and I know your baby years are behind us. While I want so badly to ask you to stay small forever, I know...

My Sophia Grace Bajorek is such a special soul. She came into this world with a plan. She came into this world larger than life. My Sophia Grace was never really small.
